Future of the Olympic Stadium in Phnom Penh

Skyscrapers Threaten Olympic Stadium

Via the My Stadium Team.

Dear students, researchers, journalists, architects and supporters,

We have reliable information from two independent sources that Canadia Bank’s Overseas Cambodian Investment Corporation (OCIC) intends not only to build around the Olympic Stadium but to demolish everything and build on the whole site. It seems that the source of this initiative is at a high level in the government and Canadia is the vehicle for carrying it out.

Please help to campaign for the stadium!

The sports complex from the 1960s is one of Phnom Penh’s most important architectural landmarks and the city’s biggest space for outdoor sports – used for free by hundreds of people every day!

Please engage yourself – in Cambodia or abroad – and help in developing a campaign, spread the word and write articles! All ideas are highly appreciated!

    Disgusting

The Olympic Stadium, as Wat Phnom, the Train Station or main Post Office, as many other buildings are historical identities of Phnom Penh… They deserve to be preserved at any cost!
One thing tourists love in Phnom Penh is the “open sky”, the fact that just 4-5 higher buildings can be used as “lighttower” to guide themselves across the city!
Skyscraper lovers go to Singapor, Hong Kong or to Bangkok…
Olympic Stadium I love you, be preserved!
